Assalamu Alaikum ~ Ascetic! ?In addition, the love affairs of the country ~

Thank you for all your continued patronage.
This is Jun Ishihara from Customer Success Group Tokyo Unit.

It's been about two and a half years since the last staff baton blog.
I was actually still there.I'm not quitting
Even if I quit, who is this guy?99% of people think that, so let me introduce myself briefly.

nice to meet you.My name is Jun Ishihara, and I work in data entry at the Tokyo branch.
I am in charge of inputting the profile information data of female members who came to the Tokyo branch for an interview and uploading it to the member page.
Basically, we don't have interviews with women or men, so there aren't many opportunities to meet members.
I would appreciate it if you could think that there is such a guy at the Tokyo branch.

Well, this time I heard from a Saudi I met in America before,
"Love affairs in Muslim countries"'I would like to talk to you about

About five years ago, when I was working loosely as a contract employee in Tokyo, I suddenly wanted to learn English, and went on a short-term study abroad trip to the West River region of the United States.
(I'm just saying this, so please take a look at my level of English improvement after returning to Japan.)

The area I went to was not that popular as a study abroad destination, but the language school I attended had people of all ages from various countries coming to study.
Among them, the most common by far wasSaudi Arabian.

When you hear Saudi Arabia...

Rich in the oil empire.
The country is prosperous, so everyone seems to live a wealthy life~
However, due to the nature of the country, it's kind of scary...
The law seems to be strict, and it's an unsafe country, isn't it?
I've heard of public executions if you do something wrong... it's scary.

It's a selfish prejudice, but at first it was such an impression.
(There were some parts that you weren't even wrong..)

There are 20 people in my class, both men and women.
Japanese 3: Chinese 2: Kuwait 3: Saudi 12
The majority of the students were from that country.

My English level is the worst, I can hardly speak, I'm shy and I can't even talk to Japanese people, I'm scared of the Saudi army, what should I do...
I knew that before I came to the United States, but I was really worried.

On the second day of school, during the first speaking class,
Saudi Arabian Abdullah, who sat next to me, talked to me.
He talked to me a lot, but I had no idea what he was saying...
However, he is very smiling, and I am weak to people who are smiling, so I thought that Abdullah was a good person just by looking at that smile.Well simple.

After that, I became friends with Abdullah, Saudi girls, and other students in the same class.
We play beach volleyball together after school, and have barbecues on the terrace of the dormitory on our days off.
Sometimes, I go to the shopping mall with Saudi-kun's car, which he bought when he came to the United States, which surprised me.
At the apartment where Saudi-kun lives, I had a lot of fun experiences, such as serving Kabsa, a traditional Saudi dish, to everyone.

During that time, we often talked about the cultures of each other's countries,
Among the many things that surprised me a lot,Love affairs in Islamic countries.

・Dating between men and women is impossible! ?

In Saudi Arabia, it is illegal for a man and a woman to walk together in the city.
So I can't date because I don't have a chance to meet, so I can't fall in love.
Can you imagine not being free to love?

・A woman shows her face and hair to her partner only after getting engaged! ?

That's why it's difficult to fall in love, so it seems that the basics of marriage is an arranged marriage with someone who has been found by parents.
Women usually wear a black scarf called a veil to cover their hair and skin so that their body lines are not visible.
This is because it is said that a woman's beauty should be kept hidden until she is married.
It's amazing to be engaged first without seeing it.

・That means the night is also...! ?

That's right.
Such behavior before marriage is prohibited and is considered a crime. And a felony.
It may be unthinkable for people who can spend anything freely.
However, after getting married, you are super free! It's the exact opposite.
Then, I want to get married as soon as possible! Are there many people who think that?

I think that people like us, who are free to fall in love, feel that the romantic situation in Islamic countries is tough.
However, the reason behind such a system iswomen protectionIt seems that there is an idea.
This is because it is to avoid unwanted pregnancies, and because the love and sex that a married couple develops after marriage is considered very important.

I think that is very important.

In Muslim countries, there are many other strict laws and systems.

・Drinking alcohol is prohibited
→ It seems that it depends on the country, but alcohol is not sold at all in shops.
・Prohibition of female driving
→It was unthinkable for me, who loves driving, but it seems that the ban was finally lifted in June 2018.
-Death penalty for adultery
→The death penalty is a decapitation and public execution.

...the ending is scary.

vice versa,
picture! That's good! There was also the Saudi system that I thought.

・Free tuition up to university!
Isn't this amazing? Moreover, the government will pay for the cost of studying abroad.
It seems that living expenses during study abroad will be paid by the country, and the amount of payment varies depending on the country, Saudi Arabia is amazing, but Kuwait is more expensive!said the Saudi military.
By the way, taxes and medical expensesCompletely freeIt seems.

Oil Kingdom!You're getting wet with oil money~ Ah~ I envy you! !

It's a feeling, but it seems that not everyone is living a wealthy life...
The gap between rich and poor seems to be quite large.
After all, all countries are the same.

I met a Saudi and the months I spent with them made me think a lot.
It may have been the first time in my life that I thought it would be so much fun to learn about the culture of a country I had no knowledge of.

I was scared at first, but
All my Saudi friends were so kind!
A friend's friend is my friend, and everyone gets along well.
They were always smiling, and most of them were younger than me, so they were all cute.
All the girls are married and come to study abroad with their husbands and children.
After all, they were solid and strong-willed, but they were all very funny kids.

Also, what surprised me was that one boy was watching the silent library of "Gaki no Tsukai" on YouTube.
I was laughing out loud.

And, well, there are a lot of handsome guys with dark faces! !
It was no longer eye care.

I wasn't among the friends I used to play with,
After all, before marriage,AbstinentIs it because it is a country?
Certainly, there were many children who left their home country and spread their wings as soon as they came to the United States.

I've seen many Saudi-kuns who enjoy drinking and messing around with girls.
One of the victims was a Japanese college student girl I met there.
No, he may not have been a victim because he talked to me with a smile on his face.

So, what do you want to say?

If I can be in this environment where I can love freely, I want to enjoy love to the fullest! ! !
If I can be in this environment where I can drink alcohol freely, I want to enjoy drinking to the fullest! ! !

about it.

I think that it is up to each person to decide which country they were born in, what kind of culture they were raised in, and what kind of environment they would be happy to live in.
There are good things and bad things about everything
I am grateful for the current environment in Japan and want to enjoy my life.
